Welcome to my website! I am Hatem Masri, a Professor and President at the Applied Science University in Bahrain. With a passion for business analytics and a commitment to academic excellence, I have dedicated my career to advancing knowledge and driving positive change in the field of management sciences.
Education has always been a cornerstone in my journey towards personal and professional growth. I hold a Ph.D. in Management Sciences from the University of Tunis, Tunisia, where I also completed my Master’s degree in Modeling and Business Analytics: Operations Research. Additionally, I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the same prestigious university.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in esteemed institutions and assuming various leadership roles. Prior to joining the Applied Science University, I served as the Dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Bahrain. During my tenure, I also held positions such as Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation and Associate Professor at the College of Business Administration.
Beyond academia, I have actively contributed to the advancement of research and decision-making methodologies. I am the author of numerous publications, including over 30 articles and six books. My research interests span a wide range of topics, including business analytics, supply chain management, financial engineering, and Islamic finance. I have also had the honor of serving as the editor and co-editor of several special issues in reputable journals.
In recognition of my expertise, I have been involved in various professional organizations and societies. I am the founder and chair of the INFORMS Bahrain International Group and have served as the past president of the African Federation of Operational Research Societies. Additionally, I am a member of INFORMS and IEEE, actively engaging in the academic community and fostering collaboration.
As an educator, I am committed to nurturing the next generation of business professionals and decision-makers. I have mentored and volunteered with the AACSB, working closely with business schools to help them develop their students skills and achieve their academic goals. I firmly believe in the power of education to transform lives and drive societal progress.
Fluency in multiple languages, including Arabic, English and French, has allowed me to connect with diverse audiences, broaden my research scope, and foster international collaborations. I embrace cultural diversity and appreciate the enriching experiences it brings.
